The Water of Leith is accessible for almost its entire length as it meanders its way through the Capital.Although bait and spinning are permitted, it is only on the lower reaches, as from Colinton village and above, it is strictly fly only.
The season runs from April to the end of October (check permit for accurate dates)
Permits for Harlaw reservoir are available from the post office Main St Balerno (£10)(Rainbow Trout)
Fishing Tackle and Permits for most local rivers including the Tweed where you can fish at a reasonable price for salmon, are available at Country Life, Balgreen Road Edinburgh .
